Arkansas Governor's School Applications

Image result for ar gov school

Information on Arkansas Governor's School for those who are interested:

Arkansas Governor's School was founded by former governor and president Bill Clinton.  Other states had a similar program.  The idea was to create a college-type environment of advanced discussion and learning in specific subject areas for gifted kids from across Arkansas.  He particularly wanted to provide this interactive, interpersonal opportunity for kids from rural high schools who didn't have all the educational privileges that kids from larger schools often receive.

Every year AGS is held on a college campus during the summer.  Prior to this year it was always held at Hendrix College. This year it has been reduced from 6 to 4 weeks and is being held at Arkansas Tech University from July 7th through August 3rd, 2019.  Students apply for acceptance in a preferred and alternate learning area:  choral music, cybersecurity, drama, English/language arts, instrumental music, mathematics, natural science, social science, and visual arts.

Students who apply to participate in an art or music subject area will have to produce and submit a sample of their work.  Applications are due January 31st.  If you are interested in applying, download and print all the application materials except for the School Recommendation and School Composite forms.  I take care of those forms.  All materials should be returned to me and I will submit everyone's application together.

If you decide to apply, let me know when you get back from break so I can help track all your forms.
